Wyoming has 48 school districts and 393 schools. The facilities within each school district vary in size, age and efficiency. With Wyoming’s small population, real advantages from implementing energy efficiency measures are best done when facilities can be aggregated. School districts and the facilities at each school represent an opportunity for Wyoming to save money from reducing energy bills. All new schools are built to the newest specifications, running more efficiently. However, there may be opportunities within existing school facilities to reduce costs through energy efficiency. Work will be facilitated through the School Facilities Department and individual school districts. An analysis will be performed to determine if there are existing impediments to integrating energy efficiency at school facilities. Recommendations will be made regarding how energy efficiency can be implemented in a streamlined fashion with existing school facilities and determine if additional authorities may be granted to the School Facilities Department to allow for more energy efficient building construction for future schools.
An analysis and list of recommendations will be developed and additional steps will be taken to implement energy efficiency measures.
