Community colleges play a critical role in developing a stable, skilled, and well-paid workforce for Wyoming’s energy related industry. Refineries, oil and gas producers, chemical plants, wind farms, solar energy firms, energy transportation companies, and pipeline operations all need a trained and skilled workforce with individuals ready to be productive the first day on the job. Wyoming’s community college system is rich with programs offering Associates Degrees and Certificates in fields requiring workers right now and into the future. Students earning an Associate degree may continue on to the University of Wyoming for further study, while others earn career technical certificates demonstrating early job readiness. Many certificate programs are designed to develop the core job skills for a particular business or industry in one year or less. Wyoming energy businesses also work collaboratively with community colleges to design programs that enhance the capabilities of existing employees with courses on topics such as management, safety and technical writing.
A solid foundation of premier training programs producing a highly skilled workforce to meet the needs of Wyoming’s energy industry while providing essential, high-paying jobs for graduates.
